I am an urban spy, picking up small absurdities found in people’s lives and the ambiguity in human relationships. I do not know them, but I know their expressions, their body languages and gestures, their position in space. I record their mundane failures. I find them endlessly intriguing and amusing.
I see my paintings as critical yet humorous portrayal of the social tension between people in banal situations. It is intended for viewers to be able to place themselves in my paintings, and to recognize and relate to not only the figures but also the psychologies of the context of my work.
